IMANI Ghana Says Majority Of Political Parties' Campaign Promises Are Unrealistic Empty Promises

The policy think tank Imani Ghana just released a report that is already being ripped to shreds by the political parties – after they revealed their findings show that most of them are hitting Ghanaians with nothing but empty promises.
IMANI Ghana said that most parties fail to provide any details on how to fulfil their policies, such as how to finance it or how sustainable it would be. Based on their metrics, they judged only 18 out of 247 promises made as ‘quantifiable’ – a pitiable 7%.
“A total of 247 promises were made, of which 18 were quantifiable, 43 were semi-quantifiable and 186 were non-quantifiable.” one of the researchers, Stefan Reppan, said at a news conference to announce the results in Accra Thursday.
“So it is clear that the vast majority of the promises that the parties present are not assessable and are empty promises.” he added.
On the party level, the NDC had six attainable promises out of twenty, the NPP one out of twenty nine. The CPP and PPP had 4 out of 38 and 3 out of 49 respectively.
Some of the promises the think tank hit included the PPP’s promise to make education free from primary to SHS, the NDC’s promise to reduce inflation to single digits and the CPP’s promises to build wind turbines across the country.
