A coalition of former prostitutes who are staunch members of the International GodsWay Church have threatened to head back to that timeless profession if their mentor and benefactor, Bishop Daniel Obinim, is not released from police custody.
The ex s*x peddlers, who say Obinim talked them out of their profession and has been providing for them since, say without the Bishop to provide for them, they would have to go back to the practice.
“Bishop Obinim talked us out of prostitution; he has rented a house for us and feeds us every day. We owe him gratitude so if he is not released, we will go back to prostitution to survive” a group of them wailed to Adom News.
Obinim is being held on unrelated charges of assault and fraud – related to his flogging of two church members who he said are his wards, as well as for allegedly defrauding a man out of Ghc 11.6m.
He is expected in court today (Thursday), where his lawyer has said he would plead for bail.
What with comparing him to Jesus, saying people are dying and now threatening prostitution due to the incarceration of Obinim; I fully expect an IGWC member to soon make the argument that the world would end if Obinim is not released. This charlatan has managed to convince not only himself but his entire congregation that the world revolves around him.
