The two ‘teenagers’ at the centre of the flogging controversy against Bishop Daniel Obinim, which has led to him being hauled before court on assault charges, have spoken out on the incident.
The two, 16 year old Illiasu and 14 year old Justina, were interviewed on OBTV concerning the issue, which came to light after a video of Obinim flogging them in church surfaced online.
The Bishop said they are both wards of his who engaged in pre-marital s*x, leading to the girl getting pregnant and she attempting an abortion.
They had s*x, only once, the boy said, and both accepted that the Bishop has authority to discipline them anytime, anywhere. Both recounted how generous he has been to them all these years he has been looking after them.
If it were down to these two kids, there’s no way any prosecution to Obinim for his act will stick.
If they’re actually ‘kids’ – that is.
