Ghana’s undisputed king of dancehall, Shatta Wale, appeared on the BBC’s Focus on Africa after his groundbreaking London concert, speaking to Akwasi Sarpong on a variety of issues.
The artist formerly known as Bandana took Akwasi through the story of Shatta, from how he learned the patois he now uses in his songs, to why he fuses that with Ghanaian local dialects, all the way to the origin of his hugely popular but sometimes controversial single, ‘Mahama Paper’.
It’s an interesting, albeit too short interview with the man himself.
