England national team goalie Joe Hart has signed a one year loan deal with the Italian Serie A side Torino after being declared surplus to requirements at Manchester City.
Hart has been first team goalie for the Citizens for much of the past decade, yet the arrival of new manager Pep Guardiola, who wanted a goalkeeper more comfortable with the ball at his feet – spelled the end of Hart’s long reign as he was shuttled to the bench.
Facing a year without football, he pushed for a loan move away.
The Italian side completed a one year loan deal for the shotstopper Wednesday, as the countdown to the end of the window draws down.
Torino announced the move after the England international completed his medical, writing on their official site that “Signing Joe Hart is a source of great satisfaction,”.
Manchester City would pay part of Hart’s wages whilst in Italy. The 29 year old has 63 caps for his country, and would join a very short list of English players who travel outside their shores to play in other countries.
