So Mark Zuckerberg just dipped his foot into the jollof wars, saying in Nigeria as part of his current visit there that Nigerian jollof is delicious.
The Facebook founder is in Africa’s most populous nation to check out how Facebook works there and how it can be improved, and committed high treason against Ghana whilst speaking during a forum.
The Facebook CEO said he has tasted Nigerian jollof, with shrimp, and described the dish as ‘delicious’. What makes it even worse is that he says in a different segment of the talk that he has been warned about comparing Nigeria’s jollof to those of neighbouring countries, yet he decided to endorse that one anyway.
Still, based on years of research and testimony from both Ghanaians and Nigerians, we know empirically that Ghanaian jollof is better, so the only plausible conclusion here is that Zuckerberg was being diplomatic.
He better run down here to taste ours before making declarations like that.
