A man has been arrested for allegedly punching a five-day old baby in the face.
The baby-Elsie Rose was said to have been punched when she was on her first outing with her parents, Amy Duckers and Lewis Temple, and her seven-year-old sister, Libby.
Reports claim the family was showing Elsie off to friends at a Tesco store in Baguley, Greater Manchester when the man punched Elsie, leaving a “very big fist mark” on her forehead.
The baby who weighs 6lb 12oz (3kg) spent the night in hospital but her injury is said not to be serious.
After the punch, the parents alerted security at the store–and the man apologised, claiming he thought the baby was a doll.
Ms Duckers took to her Facebook to write:
Thank you so much to Baguley Tesco for all you did tonight.
You were all amazing thank you so much for the way you dealt with the situation and treated us all.
