Organisers have confirmed Chris Martin and his band will perform in Mumbai on 19 November (16).Initial reports suggested Martin’s friend Jay Z would also be on the bill, but that news remains unconfirmed.
As with other Global Citizen events, tickets will be free to fans who sign up to become a part of the charity and agree to offer support to “education, equality, and sanitation campaigns” in their community and beyond.
Announcing the India show on Friday September 9, Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans told Billboard, “We were very fortunate a few years ago when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came onstage at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, and then after that, we brought Chris Martin from Coldplay to Delhi to meet with the Prime Minister about a year and a half ago and we started working intensively on bringing Global Citizen to India.”
The Mumbai show will also feature actor Aamir Khan, Oscar-winning film composer A.R. Rahman, and actor and singer Farhan Akhtar.
