A scheduled show by Samini in Tamale during his recent visit there had to be postponed after nearby gunshots threatened violence that had to be averted.
Samini was advertised to hold a show at the Tamale Sports Stadium, but it had to be postponed with the problems which made the area unsafe.
According to Starr Fm, some youth in the area were after a woman suspected of witchcraft, whose family were trying to protect her. In the process, gunshots were fired which were audible in the vicinty.
Smile Multimedia, organisers of the show, thus had it called off upon consultation with the artiste.
“Some guys from Sagnarigu where the stadium is were said to be involved in the shootings and we fear there would be some reprisal attacks.” a spokesperson told Ultimate Fm.
“We expected a huge crowd and we believe the gunshots and some issues in the metropolis made people not to turn out. The expected crowd was not there as Samini would have expected it, so upon careful consideration and advice we decided not to hold the show yesterday”
Samini, during his trip to Tamale, was enskinned as a new royal – YilaNaa (King of Music)
