A mixture of greed and love for superstition is a deadly combination, and for this family it did not pan out well.
A family in Korley-Nkwanta in the New Juaben Municipality of the Eastern Region contacted a mallam in Accra to help them retrieve some family gold that they believed had been hidden by their ancestors.
The mallam and his entourage travelled to the town to meet the family, and on their arrival, reportedly took Ghc 700 from them, Starrfmonline reports.
The mallam then travelled to where the gold was reportedly hidden at midnight to perform some rituals.
He returned with a pot supposedly containing the gold, and told the family not to open it until they paid him his fee of Ghc 3,600 and he performed some rituals on the pot – warning them of ‘spiritual death’ if they violated the order.
However, one family member broke the pot after three days of not hearing from the Mallam, only to discover the ‘gold’ was nothing more than stones.
They then angrily went to look for the Mallam to demand a refund of their monies, which they say ran close to Ghc 7,000.
In other news, two dumb members of this same family asked the mallam to help them get rich, after everything that had happened – and he gave them a concoction to drink that landed them in hospital.
