Remember when President Mahama said he’d rather lose the election than reinstate the scraped trainee allowances? Well, he just might have lost the election.
NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has reiterated the pledge to restore the allowances of teaching and nursing trainees that was scrapped under the government of the NDC.
Nana Addo made the pledge whilst speaking to students at the Pantang Nursing Training School in Madina Tuesday.
Speaking after his running mate, Dr Bawumia had made the pledge, Nana Addo said he would restore the allowances to boost the teaching and nursing professions which are in dire need of such boosts.
“You heard Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He has made a commitment I want to underwrite.” the flagbearer commenced. “We are going to restore your allowances in full, when we come to power, God-willing, in 2017, as we are going to do with teacher trainees”.
“Ghana needs all the nurses and teachers we can get, (if we are) to build a solid healthcare and educational system.” he added.
Next move is yours, NDC.
