It seems a long time ago that the brouhaha over comments Jay Foley and co made mocking Abraham Attah’s speech at the Oscars was the biggest issue of the day.
Attah said ‘Thank You’ whist up on stage and not long after, Jay Foley, Lexis Bill and MzGee laughed at the way he said the short phrase. It triggered a massive backlash from the public after GhanaCelebrities.Com editor Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri dressed down the trio for their comments.
Their defence was that they were not mocking the child actor, even if they all apologised not shortly after.
Speaking out on the issue on an appearance on Empire FM, the manager of Attah, Mawuko Kuadje, said that the issue actually hurt the boy very much.
“Abraham was really hurt, it affected him emotionally. He felt like he was mocked and also felt like Ghana doesn’t appreciate his talent because no one in Hollywood or America said that.” Kuadje said.
“We all different human beings may be no one knows his tongue but when I met Abraham we spoke about it and we looked at the positive side of it – it made him more popular and [we] laughed over it and said whenever people talk about you say well he’s still getting the fame. Ghanaians may rather make him famous by saying negative things but Americans will make him famous by saying positive things.”
It’s unfortunate that Abraham had to feel that way because a lot of Ghanaians supported him at the time – starting right here from GC where we staunchly defended him and never let up on those who decided negativity was the way to go.
Anyway, looks like he’s moved on nicely from the saga.
