That was quick. Soon after it was explained to her that her 32 year old running mate cannot, by law, stand for the position, Akua Donkor and her party has produced her ‘real’ birth certificate, which proves that she is 42 years old.
Patricia Asante spoke to Graphic Online Wednesday and produced her shiny new birth certificate, proving that she is indeed 42 years old, as Akua Donkor had claimed earlier when she said Asante did not know her date of birth because she lost her father at a tender age.
Akua Donkor, flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), outdoored Asante Monday, but her stated age of 32 became a real issue when lawyers pointed out that made her unqualified to stand for President.
But Akua came out to deny her running mate was 32, saying that was a mistake and that she was actually 42.
And they have now produced a freshly minted birth certificate to prove her advanced age – a certificate obtained on Tuesday from the Births and Death Registry in Accra.

…She produced a birth certificate issued Tuesday, October 4, 2016 that quoted May 2, 1974 as her original date of birth.
The certificate is under the signature of Mr Augustine Tawiah as the Registrar and certified by Mr Ignatius Akwasi Faibi as the Registrar of Births and Deaths.
Explaining why she had to quickly procure a birth certificate to buttress her real date of birth, Mrs Asante said she was not aware of her true date of birth simply because her parents did not register her at birth.
She said it was only after the media publications about a possible disqualification on grounds of age that prompted her to do a search and found out that she was born on May 2, 1974.
She said it has been troubling since birth because she does not know her real date of birth and therefore pleaded with Ghanaians to exercise patience, arguing that some people even at age 60 still look beautiful, implying that given her beauty, she really does not look her age.
She said the date on her voters ID card which indicates she was 32 years as of now and which she has been using for some time now was indeed a mistake and it is so because she did not know her real date of birth.
