Jealous Muslim husband Imran Khan has found himself facing a long, long time in jail after his outmoded world view led him to murder his wife for simply doing her job.
Nasreen Khan, a care worker, received numerous text messages and threats from her husband, who did not like that her work could involve interacting with other men. He kept threatening her that it wasn’t ‘halal’ and that her actions were ‘haram’ – meaning taboo – and warned her with verses from the Quran.
He kept complaining about her work till the day he snapped and simply killed her – stabbing Nasreen eight times with a kitchen knife at their home in Cheadle, Manchester.
Appearing in court, Khan admitted to the murder, and was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum requirement he serve at least twenty years.
“Nasreen worked hard to support her family and was good at that job but by contrast you are a selfish and controlling man, did little to support your family and your wife.” Patrick Field QC, said in his judgement.
“Behind the traditional line taken in your texts, appeared to lurk an element of jealousy of your wife’s independence of mind and a resentment of her defiance of your orders,”
The controlling Khan, whilst his wife was alive and working, sent her texts such as….
“I have told you 10 times there are three people whose prayers will not be accepted by Allah – a fleeing slave until he returns to his master, a woman whose husband is angry with her, until he is pleased with her, and a drunkard until he becomes conscious.”
“If you don’t listen to me I get angry.”
“If you go to men’s houses and lie to me I get angry.”
“It’s not halal for you to work with men. I don’t give permission. I told you no men when you started.”
“Listen to what I’m telling you, you are my wife, let me remind you you are married.”
“If you go another man’s house again then you are doing Haram. Don’t ignore this again and again It’s Haram what you’re doing.”
What an a**. I give you one guess as to where he got the idea from that his wife was his property?
