Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has denied reports he has finalised the purchase of former side Liberty Professionals from its current owners.
Reports last week indicated Gyan was close to the deal to purchase his former side, and his business manager confirmed the deal was in place.
But some premature reports indicated the deal has been finalised, and Gyan has pushed back squarely against those reports, claiming he has not bought any club yet.
“Those reports are not true. In my capacity as a former player of the club, I do my best to support the club in my own way.” he told local site Ghanasoccernet.com.
“I have never told anyone I have bought Liberty Professionals so I was surprised myself when those reports came up,”
Gyan, who refused to confirm or deny that he was in talks to buy the club, is believed to be in advanced talks with the powers that be at Dansoman based Liberty Professionals to buy a majority stake in the team.
Gyan played for the side as a teenager in the 2000’s, making his name as a deadly goalscorer before his move to Europe where his long and distinguished career really took off.
