Singer and Obinim acolyte Diamond Appiah, who is contesting for Parliament in the Trobu constituency, managed to do what is normally expected of people trying to contest, getting themselves on the damn ballot paper.
Yet for some strange reason, Diamond thinks performing this simple administrative procedure earns her a pat on the back and signals the hand of God in her life.
This is roughly equivalent to a ten year old child defecating into the toilet bowl instead of on the ground, and then returning and expecting a pat on the back for doing what should simply be a matter of course.
The fact that some people were stupid or careless enough to make those mistakes still doesn’t make the act of getting on a ballot box a superhuman act. If everyone around you is mediocre and you’re average, it doesn’t exactly make you Albert Einstein.
Diamond should hold her horses and hope her futile Parliamentary bid yields her some results before she starts rubbing it in the face of the ‘haters’. As it stands, she’s still far more likely to lose than win – which means winning the seat on December 7 would be something REALLY worth celebrating – not simply performing the equivalent of a grown child not wetting the bed.
