President John Dramani Mahama says he challenged opposition leader, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, to a debate on the issues – but the latter ‘run away’.
The usually held Presidential debates before the elections seem to be in jeopardy this year, but the President says it’s not his fault if that happens.
“I have challenged him (Akufo-Addo) to a debate, I have said bring all these points you are raising one by one and let’s have a debate. Let me and you debate to the Ghanaian public about the points you are raising; inflation, infrastructure and things. But he has ran away.” the President told Ovation magazine.
When asked about the IEA debates, which the NDC have objected to participating in, he said that wasn’t running away, but that cannot be the only platform for a debate.
“How can I run from a debate? I want a productive debate, one on one with Nana Akufo-Addo. What they are talking about is the IEA. I want a debate on all the contentious issues he has raised. And I will respond and Ghanaians will be the judge,”
The President added that the good works of his government is being obscured by the media, who are in cahoots to stop Ghanaians from knowing the truth of the great works his administration is carrying out.
“It is populism, a certain group has taken control of the media in Ghana and it makes it difficult for people to discern the truth. So as much as you are putting out the information, it is either being blocked or distorted,” the President said, presumably straightfaced,
It’s almost like he has never heard of Montie Fm or Radio Gold.
