‘Dancehall king’ Shatta Wale has revealed that he stopped smoking the ‘international herb’ about four years ago, after making a personal decision that he did not need it anymore.
Shatta Wale was on Starr Chat Wednesday night with Bola Ray when the host broached the topic, asking Shatta whether he smoked weed.
The singer replied that he used to, but stopped around four years ago because he did not need it to get hyper on stage anymore.
“I told myself certain things and I was like I need to continue with my career and I really want to grow up well. I asked God why do I want to stop this, you are already hyper and when you go on stage you are good, so no need for wee.
“But I must be honest, once in a while I will not lie, when I’m in the studio I just want to take cigarette and I think that is okay for now, not to do it so much.” he added.
Shatta also touched on the upcoming elections with Bola Ray, saying that he refuses to endorse any candidate because he’s interested in bringing people together and not dividing them.
“I want to meet both at one concert.” he said, referrig to both the President and opposition leader Nana Addo.
“It’s a plus to see my president and the opposition using my tracks to campaign. I need a platform for people to see that these people are at peace and not at war.”
He also condemned celebrities who endorse political parties, saying that they are in a position of authority and should not carry out actions that would divide their fans.
