US President Barack Obama has dashed many hopes with an emphatic declaration that his wife Michelle would ‘never run for office’ – saying that is a guarantee that can be taken all the way to the bank.
Michelle has impressed many political observers with her performance on the campaign trail, displaying a mix of finesse and poise and oratorical skills to rival her husband – leading to speculation of a possible political future to abound.
But Barack, in an interview early Friday, threw cold water on that possibility.
He told ‘Sway In The Morning’ that running for office is something is wife would never do.
“She will never run for office,” Obama said.
“She is as talented and brilliant a person as there is and I could not be prouder of her, but Michelle does not have the patience or the inclination to actually be a candidate herself. That’s one thing y’all can take to the bank.”
Obama though added that neither of them would recede into the shadows once he leaves office, as they would continue to campaign passionately for causes they care deeply about.
