GLO Boss, Speaker Of Parliament, EIB Owner – President Mahama Confers National Awards On 33 Distinguished Personalities

The President, John Dramani Mahama, conferred the highest national awards on 33 distinguished personalities last Friday at a state organised function.
The highest award of the land, the Companion of the Order of the Star of the Volta, was handed out to 15 personalities by the President.
The others were 10 Member of the Star of the Volta awards, five Officer of the Star of the Volta awards and three Grand Medal awards – one of which was handed out posthumously.
Those who received the highest award included owner of the Excellence in Broadcasting Network and former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Kwabena Duffour, the Speaker of Parliament the Rt.Hon Edward Doe Adjaho and former Chief of Staff John Henry Martey Newman.
Other recipients of the highest national award included Nana Ato Dadzie, Professor Kwesi Botchwey, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong, Ato Kwamena Ahwoi, Joseph Henry Owusu Acheampong and John Sackah Addo.
The rest in that category were; Lieutenant General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd), Paul Tawiah Quaye, Major General Joseph Narh Ainkrah (Rtd), Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, Samuel Vilas-Akyianu and Colonel David Gbon Zanlerigu(Rtd).
Those in the Officer of the Order of the Volta were; Ambassador Chris Kpodo, Professor Raymond Bagulo Bening, Osei Tutu Prempeh, William Kwadwo Asiedu and Michael Kofi Bansah.
Recipients of the Member of the Order of the Volta were; Ambassador Agnes Aggrey-Orleans, Dr Uma Sen, Miss Mary Steele, Sophia Gifty Awotwi, Justice Stephen Allan Brobbey, Professor Justice Samuel Kofi Date-Bah, Woeli Kwaku Kemevor, Naa Alhaji Salifu Dakurah, Worlanyo Kwadjo Siabi and Henricus Johannes Maria Wienjes, Manfred Schroeder and Dr Christopher John Kirubi Ebs were awarded with Grand Medals of the Order of the Volta, while Dr Michael Roy Appiah was posthumously awarded the Grand Medal of the order of the Volta.
During a later ceremony, the Chairman of Globacom Africa, Nigerian billionaire Chief Mike Adenuga Jr, also received a Companion of the Star of Ghana honour from President John Dramani Mahama.
