Journalists Who Want to Cover the 2016 Election Has to Pay to Do So–Says Ghana's Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has said in a statement that journalists who wish to cover the upcoming general elections have to pay for the coverage.
To obtain an accreditation for coverage, a journalist must first pay a fee.
Considering the fact that this is a national exercise that demands all stakeholders including journalists to play a role, it’s weird that any form of fee is to be charged by the EC.
“Accreditation tags will be given to only those who have formally applied for it and for a fee to be determined by the Commission,” the statement signed by Eric Kofi Dzakpasu, Head of Communications at EC, said on Monday.
It’s unclear if Ghanaian journalists will pay EC’s fees to be able to cover the elections.
