NPP Parliamentary canddiate for the Awutu Senya West Constituency, George Andah, is refusing to back down from s*xist comments he made against Foreign Minister and the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Hannah Tetteh.
George Andah shocked an entire nation when he muttered during a recent rally, after introducing his wife on stage, that Hannah Tetteh should now come and show the constituents her husband.
Many expressed disappointment with Andah, a well regarded business executive before he entered the dirty world of politics. The import of his statement, that somehow Hannah Tetteh needed a husband to prove her fitness to serve, left a sour taste in many mouths.
But speaking on Asempa Fm Friday, Andah said his comments had been taken out of context. He refused to apologise, saying the NDC started it by calling him irresponsible.
“Why should I sit down and allow people to think, what you are saying about me is true. Why should I apologise for my comment, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with what I said.” Andah said on ‘Ekosii Sen’.
“I was responding in a certain context…because they are doing certain things. When they claim I’m irresponsible, I’m telling them that I have a wife, and I presented her before the constituents, it is simply that”
He added: “If I bring Nana Addo to Bawjiase and I ask you to bring John Mahama to Bawjiase, would that be something you should say I should apologise for?” Mr Andah, obviously lost to the issues being discussed, added.
