Despite the conclusion of the flagbearership saga, it looks like the EC are not done facing legal challenges in the run-up to this year’s elections.
The International Standards Journalists Association (ISJA), a Ghanaian professional body for journalists, have sued the Commission for announcing the imposition of a fee to be paid by journalists who require accreditation to cover this year’s election.
The EC recently announced the widely derided measure, and it has led to a suit by the ISJA.
Filed at the Accra High Court, the suit calls for the court to strike down the provision. A loss would hand the EC their second powerful judicial blow in the run-up to the elections.
