The reason why I lost interest in religion and decided to look behind the veil is because of FAITH.
The concept of FAITH (believing without evidence), the foundation of religion is so flawed that, I do not understand why anyone would want to buy into it.
But the truth is, most people have not considered things this way.
Believing without evidence is good if you are just believing there’s a benevolent celestial father out there who cares about you–that’s positive and perhaps harmless.
However, the concept of FAITH which is widely cherished and made attractive by religion means, without evidence, an old woman like this one can be accused as a witch and be humiliated as such.
What’s even so pitiful is that, the woman herself begins to believe she is actually a witch–still without any evidence. Same way, those who hold faith begin to actually believe whatever so strong that they can’t see anything else, still without evidence.
If your Mother, Auntie or Wife was this woman, being treated this way as a witch–baselessly. I mean no reasonable evidence to actually ascertain this witchery, purely based on some abstract belief, then maybe and just maybe, you will begin to see the value in reason and evidence.
Folks like me are not stupid; we understand that, without the need to ask for evidence or apply reason, someone will wake up one day and say to you whatever and no one will there say anything back, after all, we are just to believe without evidence.
Without evidence, some believe there’s heaven and hell—others also believe that if you bomb the infidels, you would be rewarded with 77 virgins in an ‘evidenceless’ paradise.
Faith is a dangerous doctrine—imagine we all decide to employ it everywhere, such that, without evidence, I can say, you are a rapist and throw you into jail or accuse you of having killed my son in his dream.
Religion and Superstition flourish on faith–instead of employing reason and evidence. The correlation between faith and gullibility is so obvious you can’t understand how people miss it.

And don’t say authorities should do something about it–because they can’t and won’t. Faith is all that’s needed to kill an old woman by labeling her a witch.
You may think they are barbaric or stupid, just because you don’t have faith in their beliefs. The truth is, you are no different to them because yours is also based on no reasonable evidence.
I am patiently waiting for the day someone, a pastor, a juju man or whoever will say my mother, sister or woman is a witch.
Once a while, take time out to think about the stuff you are made to believe in–and ask yourself the difficult questions. Because this is also faith in action…
