Ghana’s premiere investigative journalist and the scourge of all corrupt officials anywhere, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has fired off a warning to one of the most corrupt public institutions in the country, the passport office, promising to soon pay a visit to the place.
Anas was speaking during a public lecture over the weekend when he made the comments concerning the office.
There is no doubt that the passport office is one of the most prominent cesspools of corruption in Ghana, with people in the highest levels of that organisation running a scam where the duration one gets a passport is dependent on how much they are willing to pay to circumvent the normal, arduous process.
Anas, speaking at the lecture, said he was needed at the office to uncover whatever was going on there.
Anas, whose work on exposing corruption within Ghana’s judiciary led to the dismissal of numerous justices from the bench, in addition to other earlier deep cover works, has earned a reputation as one of the world’s top investigative journalists – and even just the suggestion that he could be headed for the passport office should put the fear of God in some operatives and lead to a reduction in the level of corruption on display.
