The creme of the crop – Al Pacino, Mavis Staples and several other legendary stars were rewarded as Kennedy Centre Honorees for the year 2016.
The annual awards honours top stars in the world of showbiz who have made a lasting impact on US popular culture through their movies or music or any form of art.
This year’s awards were presented by the John F. Kennedy Centre for Performing Arts, with honourees including the aforementioned Al Pacino and Mavis Staples – as well as Martha Argerich, singer-songwriter James Taylor and Don Henley of the rock band Eagles.
