Black Stars coach Avram Grant has commenced training with an initial 18 man squad as preparations for the 2017 African Cup of Nations get into full gear.
The Black Stars would put up a new challenge for the Afcon trophy in the new year when the competition commences in Gabon after losing in the finals the last time out.
The under fire manager started work with an 18 man team Wednesday morning at the St Thomas Aquinas School Park in Accra.
Several other players including Asamoah Gyan, West Ham United Andre Ayew, Christian Astu, Daniel Amartey, Jordan Ayew, Adam Kwarasey, and Mubarak Wakaso are not yet in the squad as they are involved in club football.
The 2017 Afcon kicks off on January 14 2017 and runs till February 5.
