President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday joined the Ghana Police Service in inaugurating a monument to police officers who have fallen in the line of duty at a solemn memorial ceremony in Tesano.
Held at the Police Training school, the President led the unveiling of a new cenotaph which is in honour of the fallen officers.
“Today, all of us feel a sense of loss, but the grief is heavier for others. On behalf of the good people of Ghana I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the families, spouses and especially the children of these fallen heroes.” the President said, speaking at the ceremony.
“We, the living should remember and pay homage to their memories,” he added.
The President reaffirmed the commitment of government to aid the service carry out its crucial duties.
