Belief In God Plummets In The UK – Drops To All Time Low Of 28%. Atheism Rises To 38%

Belief in God in the UK has been steadily declining for the past few decades, but suffered a steep plunge in 2016 to levels not ever seen.
A Times/YouGov poll conducted earlier this month found that Britons who believe in the existence of God had dropped by 4 percentage points from an earlier poll conducted in February 2015- a steep drop nearly unprecedented in polling on the question of God.

28% of respondents said they believed in the existence of a God, down from 32% in the previous poll. Whilst belief in God has steadily been on the decline, it had on average dropped 1% every year, making 2016 unique in the huge drop in the number of believers.
Conversely whilst belief in God drops, non belief rises. Britons who said they did not believe God existed were 38% of respondents, up from 33%. Atheists surpassed the religious for the first time in last year’s polls and as time goes on, it looks like the trend would continue rather than reverse.
And that proof lies in the number of young people who are atheists. The future looks godless, as 46 per cent of the 18-24 age group said there is no God, with 43% of 25 to 49-year-olds saying the same thing.
Geographically, most atheists live in London and Northern England, with the religious concentrated in the Midlands and Wales.
