The transition team of the incoming NPP have decided to reject the sitting allowances as well as refreshments due them during meetings, saying it is measure to help cut down costs.
Spokesperson Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed that throughout their work over this Chirstmas period, they have turned down the refreshments and allowances due them to help demonstrate their commitment to austerity which they hope to implement when in office.
“Over the Christmas period, many of these sub-working committees have also been in this building having meetings. The working committees and the nine members from the side of the president-elect have also declined sitting allowances, lunch and other beverages as a sign of commitment to the austere times in which we are, and same has been communicated to the co-chair and the team on the other side,” he said.
The NPP tagged the NDC as corrupt and wasteful during campaigning, noting that the country’s woes stem from misappropriation of funds.
