It was supposed to be a dream return to the sport she used to dominate for Ronda Rousey, but it turned into a nightmare as champion Amanda Nunes battered her and stopped her in 48 seconds flat.
Rousey could not throw a clean punch all fight and after taking so many shots, the referee was forced to step in and end the UFC Bantamweight championship match.
The ‘Furious 7’ star last fought in November last year, when she lost to Holly Holmes by knockout in the first loss of her hitherto dominant career. Yet despite taking a year to train to get back in top shape, her latest fight went far, far worse.
She challenged Amanda Nunes who was holding her old title, yet once again got horribly battered as she looked spent. On this evidence, it’s difficult to disagree with calls for Rousey to retire and permanently move to Hollywood.
