The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has a military team on standby in Senegal just waiting for the word to enter The Gambia and oust recalcitrant President Yahya Jammeh and install President-elect Adama Barrow.
As one of the leading nations in the sub region, Ghana has provided a reasonable number of troops to bolster the forces, which simply await international clearance on the next step to take.
According to a statement by the director of communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, Ghana is sending 205 troops to the Gambia.
The troops are to assist the ECOWAS force in their endeavours to oust Jammeh from power.
