Ghana coach Avram Grant just made millions of Ghanaians happy, having strongly hinted he would be leaving his job at the end of the ongoing Cup of Nations.

Grant, speaking in with the BBC ahead of Ghana-Mali, said that his contract was extended by three months due to the Afcon, hinting he would leave after it expires.

“I came for two years in Ghana, we extended to two years and three months because we qualified for the Nations Cup,” Grant told BBC Sport.

“I will always take good memories from here, but hopefully the last memory will be the best one.” he added.

It’s not even clear Grant would be handed an extension, as his relationship with the local press and fans has always been a contentious one.

Grant took Ghana to the finals of the last nations cup in South Africa where we lost to Cote d’Ivoire, but has ruined that goodwill with an anaemic start to world cup qualifying in which Ghana has picked just a point from two games.
