Ghanaian Midfielder Mohamed Abu Joins Columbus Crew In The U.S

blankGhanaian midfielder Mohammed Abu has been announced as the latest signing of Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew.

Abu moves from the Norwegian side Stromgodset on an undisclosed fee, joining the side as a ‘special discovery player’.

Abu, 25, played for Lorient and Rayo Vallecano in France and Spain respectively before moving to Norway. He started his career with the youth team of Manchester City and has been capped three times for Ghana.

“Mohammed is a talented, technical player that we believe will fit well into our system and style of play,” said Crew Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “Across his experience in Norway, France and Spain, we believe that a combination of his experience, skillset and character will be a good fit for Crew SC. We are glad to have him in Columbus and it is certainly an added bonus that he is familiar with the area as his wife has lived in Central Ohio.”

Abu would join the team once they receive his International Transfer Certificate. He joins fellow Ghanaians Harrison Afful and Jonathan Mensah at the Columbus based club.
