The Black Stars of Ghana would take on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the quarter finals of the ongoing Cup of Nations on Sunday.
This follows the team’s narrow 1-0 loss to the Pharaohs of Egypt Wednesday, a result that put the North Africans top of the group and left Ghana in second place.
An 11th minute freekick from Mohamed Salah was enough to give the Egyptians their second win over Ghana in three months, ensuring they finished top of the group with seven points, one ahead of Ghana.
The Black Stars thus book a date with Congo DR, who topped Group C, on Sunday at 1600 GMT. Egypt take on Morocco after Ghana’s game, at 1900 GMT.
