World Cup Winning Coach – Sellas Tetteh Loses Wife

blank2009 U-20 world cup winning coach, Sellas Tetteh, has unfortunately lost his wife Evelyn.

Mrs Tetteh died early Thursday at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, after battling a short illness.

The pair have two children together, the product of their fruitful marriage.

Sellas Tetteh gained cult status in Ghana after leading the national U-20 team, then captained by Dede Ayew, to win the 2009 Fifa U-20 World Cup held in Egypt, becoming the first African nation to do so.

He later became caretaker head coach for the Black Stars, before subsequently taking up his current role as head coach of the Sierra Leonean national team.

“Madam Evelyn’s support and understanding of her husband’s role as Head Coach of the Sierra Leone National Team throughout the often troubled and turbulent period of his career in Sierra Leone, earned her tremendous respect from all those around her and the football family in Ghana.” a statement released by the Sierra Leone Football Association read.

“She put her husband’s interest and passion for football above all else. We thank her for her prayers and words of encouragement to the SLFA and Leone Stars through those difficult times.

“May her soul rest in perfect peace and may the good lord give our head coach the strength to carry on for the sake of his children”
