Gospel artiste Anita Afriyie has waded into the bribery claims surrounding the genre, claiming that Charterhouse were actually soliciting for bribes from her.

Charterhouse communications head George Quaye stirred controversy a while ago when he claimed that gospel artists actually paid bribes to be given awards much more than those of other genres.

That sparked a huge debate as gospel artists hit back and eventually, Quaye was forced to apologise.

But speaking in an interview, Afriyie claims its the organisers who asked her for money.

She said back in 2015, she was nominated for two categories. But when her management enquired why she got only two, they were asked to pay money as others had paid much more.

“My management was told that other people are paying better money and investing in the awards so if we want to win or get more nominations, then we should invest more in it” she claimed.

She said she believes her refusal to pay is what led to her not winning any awards.
