The NDC’s National Organiser, Kofi Adams, has had his five vehicles which were seized by the police on suspicion of belonging to the state returned to him.

The police, after conducting their investigations, were unable to find any evidence that Adams had taken the vehicles from the state, and thus had no choice but to turn them over back to him.

Kofi Adams had some vehicles seized after his house was stormed in his absence and the cars confiscated. The action was taken on the premise that the cars were state vehicles which Mr Adams had retained use of, but he vehemently disagreed.

His lawyer, Samson Lardi Ayenini, last week called out the police for keeping the vehicles, daring them to either charge his client for a crime or release to him his vehicles. The latter happened yesterday.

“This afternoon the Police released the five vehicles that came to our custody to Kofi Adams after investigations have revealed that the cars are not state property,” Public Relations Director of the Police CID, Joseph Benefo Darkwa told Citi FM in Accra Thursday evening.

The care – two V8 Land Cruisers and three Nissan pick-ups – were returned to the NDC official. The police declined to go into the details of the investigation, also brushing aside claims that the cars might have come from the state but then had the chassis numbers changed.

“The bottom line is we wanted to know whether they belong to the state or not and I must say none of the vehicles belonged to the state so we have released the vehicles to Mr kofi Adams,”
