Samini Says If Medikal Could Make Artist Of The Year, Kofi Kinaata Should Have As Well

Dancehall act Samini has added his voice to growing calls of discontent over the exclusion of Kofi Kinaata from the artiste of the year category at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Despite a stellar year and spawning two mega hits, including arguably the biggest hit in the country right now – Kofi Kinaata failed to make it to the most prestigious category in the upcoming awards.

Speaking with KMJ on Hitz Fm Wednesday, Samini expressed doubt over the decision to leave out Kofi Kinaata. He said if Medikal could make it, leaving out Kofi Kinaata is definitely not fair.

“I don’t know how Kofi Kinaata didn’t make it to the artist of the year. I will not even talk about myself. I presented my song mama Ghana for songwriter and something else but I am not even talking about it. If Medikal could make it to the artiste of the year, I think Kofi Kinaata wasn’t treated fairly…” he said.

As can be recalled, Kofi Kinaata’s camp have already expressed their displeasure with the decision, in the strongest terms possible.
