Lydia Forson Says She Will Star In Kumawood Only IF The Script Is ‘Quality’

Lydia Forson

There seems to be a trend among Ghallywood actresses to assume that there is a certain level of inferiority in Kumawood scripts which we’re not quite sure exists.

Both industries produce a lot of whack movies, but Kumawood makes more sales. This insistence for those in the english speaking industry to emphasise they would only do ‘quality’ twi movies is getting a little old.

Recently Martha Ankomah passed similar comments concerning Kumawood, and the next to join her is Ms Forson.

In an interview on Metro Tv Tuesday, Forson said she has no problem starring in a Kumawood production, praising their movies but saying she would only opt for the ‘quality’ ones.

“Kumawood movies sells fast and they are progressing at a very fast pace than the Ghallywood films. If you travel abroad, that is what our Ghanaians out there watch and laugh about. These films are humorous and fun to watch. So if they (Ghallywood and Kumawood) could come together to make films, it would benefit both parts greatly,” she said.

“I have starred in a couple of Kumawood movies before… I actually was cast in a film with the late veteran actor Ebenezer Donkor aka Katawere … So I would definitely love to act in Kumawood movies, if only the script is quality,” she added.

This also raises another question – since every actor/actress claims they would star only in movies with quality scripts – who are those starring in the whack ones we see all the time?
