The President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation, Gideon Quartey, has unfortunately passed away.

Quartey died in the early hours of Wednesday, a family source revealed.

Starrfmonline reports that Quartey had complained of heart pains prior to his death.

Well known in local boxing circles, Quartey is well lauded for his dedication to building the amateur game in Ghana. He is the founder of the Dade Boxing Club, and has run amateur boxing in the country for years.
