I just got married and therefore I am in the best position to tell you about a perfect honeymoon–having just had a first-hand experience myself.
Anyone who reads me regularly by now must have realised I am not a strong honeymoon advocate, on the back of my philosophy that we must live each day to the brim and not just live a beautiful life only once.
In a recent piece, I argued that “it’s reasonable that after exhausting wedding activities, the couple would want to take a break to relax and revitalise. I am all for that and even more—that’s the couple can also take a trip to experience uncommon activities, such as visiting the Safari or something they wouldn’t normally do.
However, what a lot of Ghanaians call honeymoon is to check-in to Golden Tulip hotel or the Royal Senchi hotel for 3 days, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, and have s*x. That’s not just boring but pathetic, especially when you got married to someone you’ve obviously shared the sheet with, which is the norm of contemporary boyfriend-and-girlfriend relationships.”
The flaw in my philosophy is this; not everyone can afford to live a certain lifestyle they desire on a regular basis–and therefore, for many Ghanaians, the few days they spend with their newlywed right after marriage is priceless, even if it’s slightly departed from the reason behind traditional honeymoon.
Beyond this obvious flaw, Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm does not fit in the weird Ghanaian honeymoon box of avenue for just s*x, it offers a value for honeymoon.
Before my wedding, I did not have any honeymoon conversation with my wife–and this because we had visited almost all the honeymoon destinations in Ghana and I did not have the luxury of time to leave the country.
We had enjoyed the following popular Ghanaian honeymoon destinations together; MovenPick, Golden Tulip, Kempinski Hotel, Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm, Elmina Beach Resort, Coconut Groove Resort, Royal Senchi Resort, Labadi Beach Hotel and others.
In fact, because of my friendship with Dr. Felix Anyah, the Founder/CEO of Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm, his posh “Bahamas resort” like health farm has become my second home–where I visit anytime I am in Ghana.
In a 2016 extensive review of the place, I wrote:
“You may argue that you would find great Spa centres across Ghana and I wouldn’t be able to counter that. But Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm offers exceptionally more, a unique package of comfort and wellness, with the Spa being just a small component.
Perhaps you’ve not heard of Pet Therapy but you can surely envisage the calmness and associated excitement that come with feeding beautiful rabbits and ducks. It’s priceless to connect with these animals through feeding and to have them run around you.
What about a visit to the huge crocodile pond, with a well positioned fully stocked modern bar—from where you can enjoy your favourite drinks (of course in healthy moderation) and feed the crocodiles or gaze as they go about their activities?
Research has shown that Pet Therapy which builds on pre-existing human-animal bonds uses this natural relationship to “aid progress toward goals in human physical, social, emotional, and cognitive function.” And in an interesting manner, Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm connects you to some of the lovely animals nature presents.
Even if you are not into the above despite its health benefits, I am sure you wouldn’t bow out of a worthy ride on the back of the desert giant, a healthy human-responsive Camel. And if you love horses, you can jump on one for a calm stroll around the huge Health Farm.
The extensively calm atmosphere, dictated by the Volta River and green vegetation which surround Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm adds extra value to the already thoughtfully conceived establishment, all in place for your mental and physical well-being.
The whole Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm set up is awesome—it’s a top notch alternative health centre with different recreational facilities at the disposal of every staying guest. The centre has its signature nature-decor Spa facility, a fully equipped Gym, a Badminton court, a Lawn Tennis court, a Pool and several other recreational installations.”
As a regular Holy Trinity Spa visitor, I’ve literally experienced all the above with my now wife–but last week, our minds were blown with a taste of their unrivalled honeymoon package, albeit it was a surprise for us.
Despite Dr. Felix Anyah’s busy schedule, he attended our wedding and therefore we decided to pay him a courtesy visit, to thank him for his support after the wedding.
Without any honeymoon in anticipation, our visit was turned into a surprised honeymoon–with their entire honeymoon package thrown at us, as complimentary.
It was a wonderful experience: from the posh Arabian themed presidential suite fitted with a spacious ultra modern bathroom to having breakfast on the Volta River, it was not only the Mrs who was thrilled, I was equally excited.
We were given their 2 Days‘JOYFUL CELEBRATION’ Honeymoon Package (FOR 2)–that comes with the following:
Breakfast / Lunch whilst cruising on the Volta River
Sumptuous Buffet Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Relaxing and Detoxifying Infra-Red Sauna
De-stressing and Relaxing Head Shoulder and Back Massage

What I love most about Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm is that the atmosphere is superb, the recreational facilities and the health components have been well interlaced and the many highly professional staff are available to help you relax—but since where you end sleeping each night contributes greatly to your well being, the Health Farm offers spacious high grade accommodation—a look inside th ‘Melchidezek’ building where we slept should give you a good idea of what’s on offer.
If you ever need a honeymoon destination, worth the experience–far from just a hotel room to sleep and have s*x as most Ghanaians do, Holy Trinity Spa & Health Farm is the perfect destination. Mention my name when you book and you never know, it may come with a good discount.
Holy Trinity SPA & Health Farm is located at Sogakope in Ghana, just about 1 hour drive from Accra.
