Alhaj Mubarak Muntaka, the member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti Region, has made it clear that he would run for President one day.

The conversation around the country these days revolve around who would lead the NDC into 2020 and many names are being thrown into the hat.

Muntaka was asked the same question and whilst he did not directly speak about 2020, he revealed that he would run for President one day, if that was Allah’s will.

“I am a politician; I have been it for a long time, I have been a minister, I have been the Majority whip… I take the days as they come. If it is the will of Allah that one day I get there then why not.” Muntaka said when asked about his Presidential ambitions on Citi Fm.

“It is not something that any politician, no matter where he finds himself, will just say that no; this is the last thing that will come to my mind. Obviously once you are in the game, it is your wish and prayer that one day, you could be at the very top of it.”

Muntaka became famous in the country after being involved in the infamous ‘pampers’ controversy, surrounding a trip to the Cote d’Ivoire. He was also recently involved in the alleged instances of bribery in Parliament raised by the Hon Mahama Ayariga, although nothing ultimately came of the allegations.
