Mahama and the NDC can’t seem to get over their ‘comfortable lead’ loss and at every opportunity, they diagnose what led to their loss.

An autopsy over a painful electoral loss is not a bad thing, it’s just that for the NDC, it’s not their fault that they lost – the incompetence or the corruption – but that the Ghanaian people were deceived by the NPP.

They sound a lot like Democrats in the US who can’t admit their own flaws led to Trump’s win and instead keep on blaming Russia and everyone else except themselves.

Speaking in South Africa at the World Economic Forum, Mahama said he lost last year’s elections due to his opponent promising Ghanaians heaven on earth.

“I knew what the economy could give the people and I told the people the truth that we need more hard work to be able to get out of where we are; my opponent promised heaven and you have the constraints of not being able to promise all the rosy things he was doing”. Mahama said.

According to him, based on all those lofty promises, “…The people made a choice and voted me out.”

“If he [President Nana Akufo-Addo] is able to deliver on his promises, good; if he is not able too, the people would have learnt that not all that glitters is gold”. the not-bitter ex-President warned.
