US network ABC plans to bring the uber popular show ‘American Idol’ back to television, just a year after the show was officially ‘ended’.

Idol run for fifteen seasons on Fox, which ended the show last year due to declining ratings, but would return for a 16th season after ABC announced a commitment to resurrect the show.

“Good Morning America” hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos revealed the historic news Tuesday morning.

“America, get ready for the return of a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever ‘Idol,’ ” said Disney/ABC TV Group president Ben Sherwood.

ABC won a fierce negotiation war among several networks to bring back the beloved show. So far, there’s little news on when the show returns, who would run it or other pertinent production issues.
