Former James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore has passed away at the age of 89, his family has announced.
Moore died in Switzerland after losing a short battle to cancer.
A statement released by his children via his official twitter page confirmed the news.
“With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated,” the statement read.
The 89 year old was the third man to play James Bond, taking on the role in the 70’s and 80’s in movies such as ‘Octopussy’, ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’ and ‘Moonraker’.
Moore, a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador, was knighted by the Queen in 2003. He would be buried at a private funeral in Monaco, according to his stated wishes.
