Shatta Wale has revealed the process leading to his recording of his tribute song to the late Major Maxwell Mahama.

Wale was the first artist in the country to release a song in tribute to Mahama – his ‘Maxwell Adam Mahama’ song dropped early Tuesday after the soldier’s death on Monday.

Shatta, in a recent Peace Fm interview, revealed why he dropped the song so fast. He said he watched the video of Mahama’s lynching and wept over the barbarism displayed in it.

After that, he was filled with so much emotion that he simply had to get it off his chest in song.

Wale revealed that he got into the studio around 2am Tuesday and had everything wrapped up in about 55 minutes.

Major Maxwell Mahama was lynched by residents of Denkyira-Obuasi on Monday, the 29th of May, allegedly on suspicion of being an armed robber. His death rocked the entire nation over how fellow Ghanaians can take such an action against an innocent man.

Since his death, government has pledged its commitment to the Mahama family, promising him a state burial, to erect a monument in his honour, and establishing a Ghc 500,000 trust for his wife and children.
