William Baah, the Denkyira-Obuasi assemblyman who, according to legend, mobilised a crowd of the town’s residents to lynch the late Major Mahama, has vehemently denied the charge in court.
According to his lawyer, George Bernard Shaw, both the police and the public have the wrong facts on the case.
Shaw was speaking in court on Thursday as the case of the 20 suspects were called.
According to him, at the appropriate time for the defence, they would ‘disabuse the minds’ of the jury of the wrong facts which have been floating in the media.
William Baah is one of the suspected ringleaders in the death of the army officer in Denkyira-Obuasi.
He reportedly mobilised a mob of the town’s residents as they chased down and ultimately killed the military officer in cold blood.
The case has been adjourned till 7th September with the suspects remanded in prison custody.
