Apologists for Islam across the West, as well as peace loving Muslims, of which there are many, make no mistake – often make the claim that Islam is a ‘religion of peace’.
Even though it’s holy books, the practices in many Muslim societies across the world and many other factors dispute this mantra quite easily – people hold onto it and broadcast it all the time.
It’s like a slogan – like ‘Make America Great Again’ – which it’s adherents would trumpet even to the death, irrespective of what the evidence right before their faces is showing.
Yet, Islam remains the only religion (in the modern world) where you can and often times are literally hacked to death for leaving it, criticising it, or even for simply drawing the man they consider their ‘holy prophet’.
And despite all these people have the audacity to continue pushing the obvious lie that it’s the ‘religion of peace’.
It’s the ‘religion of pieces’, as Bill Maher once infamously said.
“Islam is a religion of peace. There’s a piece of you here and a piece of you over there,” Maher once morbidly joked.
Obviously not all Muslims are of the bloodthirsty variety; but there’s a significant enough population of them that it becomes a fallacy to claim all is fine and dandy with the religion and its tenets.
Which brings us to the topic at hand – atheists in Malaysia.
A group known as ‘The Atheist Republic’ (of which yours truly is a proud member), held a meeting of its members in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, during which they took a photo and posted it online.

Just that innocuous act – a group of atheists holding a social gathering – has sparked a government investigation and led to many Malaysians calling for the death of the ‘apostates’.
The government in the Muslim majority country does not allow Muslims to leave the faith, thus the investigation is to determine if there are any ex-Muslims amongst the group of atheists.
Aside the government persecution these group of atheists are about to face, the (Muslim) citizens of the country are also calling for them to be killed.
In series of posts on social media, many Muslims express disgust that atheists even exist in the country, and call for them to be killed, some citing either the Quran or the Hadiths.
We’ve gathered a variety of these for you perusal, the hatred and vitriol in these posts for simply a meeting of atheists is quite extraordinary.
As (GC Founding Editor) Chris-Vincent often says, quoting Christopher Hitchens in his groundbreaking ‘God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything’: “[Religion is] violent, irrational, intolerant, allied to racism and tribalism and bigotry, invested in ignorance and hostile to free inquiry, contemptuous of women and coercive toward children.”
You wouldn’t find a better advertisement for that quote than the comments from Malaysian Muslims you’re about to read.
