NPP Deliberately Failed BECE Students To Cut Down Free SHS Beneficiaries – NDC

The NDC claims that in order to be able to fulfil their promise of a Free SHS education, the NPP government are deliberately failing JHS students so the number which qualifies for the program would be manageable.
Deputy Communications Director Kweku Boahen made the allegation on Kasapa Fm.
According to him, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, the government is to reduce the pass mark for the BECE down to aggregate 30, back from the previous aggregate 42.
He said this tactic is to fail about 50% of BECE candidates this year and make them ineligible for Senior High School. This is to help government so the number of students eligible for the free SHS program does not balloon to unmanageable numbers.
“I know for a fact that the NPP in collaboration with Ghana Education Service (GES) has deliberately failed 50% of the just ended BECE students due to their laid down systems which cannot permit them to offer free education service to that number of persons as assured earlier, therefore the score down of pass mark from aggregate 42 to 30 which to me is not fair in our part of the world.” he said.
“So, Is the GES under president Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and his government telling us that students who pass beyond aggregate 30 would not be permitted to enhance their education to the SHS level when students of the same grade were permitted per the laws of the state to continue to the SHS level last year?”  he wondered.
Boahen added that the NPP have already destroyed the great economy the NDC lost to them and that in 2020, Ghanaians would hand power back to the NDC in a landslide.
